How do I get a test terminal?

Contact your sales/account manager to request WL Android Test Terminals for development and testing.

Where can I find the latest WPI documentation?

The latest WPI documentation is available in the WPI section of this portal. You can also access it through the Partner Center.

Development

Which Android version should I target?

SmartPOS devices run Android with SDK 19 or higher. Check the specific device specifications for the exact Android version.

Can I use WebView in my application?

WebView is allowed but comes with strict legal conditions due to PCI compliance requirements. Review the guidelines carefully.

How do I handle payment errors?

WPI returns error codes in the response. Implement proper error handling to display meaningful messages to users and log errors for troubleshooting.

How long does app approval take?

Approval time depends on the completeness of your submission and any technical reviews required. Ensure your Application Release Note is complete to expedite the process.

Can I update my app after publication?

Yes, you can submit updates through the Developer Center. Each update requires a new Application Release Note and goes through the approval process.

Which markets is my app available in?

Distribution is configured based on the information in your Application Release Note and your partnership agreement. Contact your Partner Manager for specific market availability.

Technical

What payment methods are supported?

WPI supports various payment methods including contactless, chip and PIN, and magnetic stripe. Supported methods depend on terminal configuration and acquirer agreements.

How do I implement receipt printing?

WPI provides receipt data in the response. You can use the terminal's built-in printer or implement digital receipt delivery. See the WPI documentation for receipt format options.

Can I access terminal hardware directly?

Access to terminal hardware is provided through the SmartPOS API and WPI interfaces. Direct hardware access is not permitted for security reasons.
